Learn to crochet with Tati

Learn to Crochet with Tati – a 1 hour beginner workshop

Have you ever thought “I could never crochet, it looks too difficult”… Perfect — then this is for you!

If you don’t know a hook from a needle, have never picked up yarn, or aren’t sure what the difference is between knitting and crochet — you’re in the right place. This workshop is designed entirely for complete beginners. No previous experience needed, just come with curiosity!

In the session

You’ll have plenty of time to ask questions – nothing is too silly, so please ask away! This is a relaxed, step-by-step session where I’ll guide you through:

  • What crochet actually is (and how it’s different from knitting)

  • The simple tools you need to get started

  • How to hold your hook and yarn comfortably

  • Making your very first stitches

  • Starting a small practice piece to build confidence

No jargon, no pressure — just clear guidance and time to practice. By the end of the hour, you’ll understand the basics of crochet; have made your first mini swatch and feel confident enough to keep going on your own.

All you need is:

  • Yarn

  • A hook

  • Some patience!

I recommend an Aran weight yarn (cotton or acrylic) and a 5.5/6mm hook OR DK weight yarn (cotton or acrylic) and a 4/4.5mm hook.

If you’re still confused, please drop me a DM and I can help!

Your host

I’m Tati, and amongst the many hats I wear, I proudly call myself a crochet enthusiast! I’ve been crocheting for 7 years — it was the first craft I fell in love with — and I now make everything from blankets and cardigans to creatures and bags.

I started crocheting because I wanted to create something unique and personal — a keepsake made with love. It took time and patience but in 2019 I made my first blanket (wonky!) and it is still a much loved item.

Over the years, crochet has become more than just a hobby. It’s a way for me to slow down, focus, and switch off from the noise of everyday life. I find it calming, grounding, and incredibly rewarding.

I’ve recently run beginner workshops in my local village, helping people discover new crafts for the first time, and I’m so excited to share that with you too.

You’ll usually find me with a project in my bag, wearing something I’ve made, or squeezing in a few stitches whenever I get a spare moment — it’s become part of my everyday routine.

Still got questions?

What if I’m really slow? – It’s fine to be slow! Go at your own pace, we’re not racing anything, we’re learning a new skill, take your time!

Will I be able to see clearly? – Absolutely! You’ll be able to see me and my hands clearly and we can stop and look closer any time we need.

What happens after? – The options are endless! But first of all, I’ll show you what you can make with the stitch you learn and what you can move onto next.
